two birds sit on top of
our hearts
singing
to each other
about
those ever black cages
that keep them apart
with voices
so fragile
that they break
eventually.
maybe i have to
clip
their wings of desire
because
all they desire
surrender.
maybe i have to silence
their voices
because
discipline of desire begins in the mouth -
the mortal mouth
that keeps mumbling
about love!
and passion!
and desire!
deadly desire
please hand me the wire
to kill the mocking bird
that screams:
if love is a site of complicity,
who lies to me?
who lies next to me?
who tells me
good night stories about
how we exist outside of them?
two birds sit on top of
our hearts
and they sing to each other

with voices so fragile
that they break
eventually.
one tries to love the other.
the other keeps othering.
